About this file
This document contains technical questions and responses regarding Solicitation Number N0016723Q0233 from the Department of the Navy Naval Sea Systems Command for forged cones. The solicitation requests 16 replicates of one part type in three different alloy compositions. Exhibit A and Exhibit B drawings show the part dimensions at two stages: Exhibit A depicts the machined preform after machining and before hot deformation, while Exhibit B depicts the final dimensions after hot deformation. The technical responses clarify that the drawings reference a single part that will be machined to the shape in Exhibit A and then hot formed to the shape in Exhibit B to produce the final part. When asked for detail drawings for specific part numbers, the response refers back to the initial response stating that the solicitation only requests one part type with the drawings depicting the manufacturing process.

VENDOR QUESTIONS and TECHNICAL RESPONSES Solicitation N0016723Q0233 Forged Cones
VENDOR QUESTION 1
There are only two drawings and the solicitation is calling for three different parts. Do you have drawings for all three? Do the drawings identify which part number it is referring to?
TECHNICAL RESPONSE 1
The solicitation only requests one type of part. The drawings “exhibit A” and “exhibit B” show the part dimensions during two different stages of the requested and required manufacturing path.
Exhibit A shows the machined preform after machining and before hot deformation as is being discussed in the “Double cones” section of “2.0 Statement of Work Specifications”.
Exhibit B shows the final dimensions of the same material after it has been hot deformed following the required parameters as discussed in the “Forging” section of “2.0 Statement of Work Specifications”.
The solicitation requests 16 replicates of one part type. Of these 16 replicates, there are three different alloys requested with different numbers of replicates requested of each different alloy as discussed in the first bullet of “2.0 Statement of Work Specifications”.
In summary, each cone will be machined into the shape of exhibit A then hot deformed into the shape of exhibit B to produce the final part.
VENDOR QUESTION 2
Can you please provide a detail vendor part drawing for p/n: 255, 2507 ,2205. We just downloaded Exhibit A and Exhibit B documents no other drawing is available to review.
