Title: Gurit Pre-Preg Composite Material Purchase for ONR UBB Hybrid Test Specimens
1.0 Scope. The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division (NSWCCD), Code 65and 66, have been funded by ONR Code 30 via funding document N0001417WX00604 to provide planning, analysis, and manufacturing support for hybrid aluminum-composite test panels subjected to under belly blast (UBB) loading to advance research and development of cost-effective structures for high water speed (HWS) amphibious vehicles. The composite materials selected for construction of the aluminum hybrid test panels are Gurit pre-impregnated (Pre-Preg) SP94 epoxy fiber reinforced lamina consisting of E-glass and Carbon fiber fabric. Material selection was based on available historic data from surface ship and submarine programs. UBB testing of hybrid aluminum-composite panels will provide performance characteristics and dynamic response data to validate finite element analysis methods predicting progressive damage under dynamic loading conditions.
2.0 Task. Deliver 29 rolls of composite material via refrigerated freight to the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division in West Bethesda Maryland. Each roll of material is to be shipped with a temperature logger to verify that material temperature was maintained at or below zero degrees Fahrenheit during transit. The material list is as follows:
2.1 Quantity of 19 rolls of Gurit SR11-3219 ST94/WRE581T with a resin content of 33%, roll width of 1250 mm, E-Glass twill weave fabric with a 590 gram per square meter areal weight. Each roll should have a nominal length of 25 meters for a total of 31.25 square meters of material per roll.
2.2 Quantity of 9 rolls of Gurit SR13-3109 ST94/RC660T with a resin content of 42%, roll width of 1270 mm, 12K tow carbon twill weave fabric with a 660 gram per square meter areal weight. Each roll should have a nominal length of 20 meters for a total of 25.4 square meters of material per roll.
2.3 Quantity of 1 roll of Gurit PC11-579 SA80 epoxy film adhesive with a 25 gram per square meter scrim cloth, roll width of 1270 mm, an adhesive areal weight of 250 grams per square meter, and a total areal weight of 275 grams per square meter. Each roll should have a nominal length of 80 meters for a total of 101.6 square meters of material per roll.
3.0 Deliverables.
3.1 Vendor will deliver 29 rolls of composite material via refrigerate freight to:
Daniel C. Hart Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division Code 655 Building 60 Room 257 9500 McArthur Boulevard West Bethesda, MD 20817
3.2 An operating temperature logging device will be delivered with each roll of composite material, for a total of 31 logging devices, with the purpose of verifying temperature maintained during transit.
4.0 Delivery Date. The material is required to be delivered by September 29, 2017. This delivery date allows for test specimen manufacturing to occur before the scheduled test.
