CoCo-80 and CoCo-90 Portable Machinery Analyzer Purchase
Dated: 07/05/2016
1. Purpose
The Navy’s Submarine Vibration Monitoring Program (VMP) is directly responsible for monitoring vibrations from all rotating equipment onboard every submarine in the Atlantic and Pacific Fleet on a quarterly basis.
Machines are monitored in an effort to ensure against catastrophic failure of critical ship equipment and unnecessary maintenance of machinery, maximizing operating time, and ensuring mission completion. The Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division (NSWCCD) uses Crystal Instruments’ CoCo-80 to convert and process time domain signals from accelerometers mounted on submarine machinery and hydrophone sensors into numerical and spectral data that can be analyzed by NSWCCD personnel. NSWCCD currently uses CoCo-80 machinery vibration analyzers and engineering data management to perform these functions on acoustic trials, but needs to expand this capability to provide machinery and structure borne noise analysis for Virginia Class submarines.
