About this file

This document is a set of Questions and Answers (Q&A) related to a Request for Quote (RFQ) for a construction/renovation project at Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane. The Q&A addresses three key technical details: design requirements, fire-rated window specifications, and bullet-resistant window dimensions. The RFQ requires build drawings with line drawings illustrating fire suppression and lighting features, which will have a shortened 5-business day government review period, significantly compressed from the typical 6-month design process. The window specifications mandate that the new window must meet or exceed the existing 1-hour rated wall and be at least 3 feet tall.

Text version

1. In reading through the RFQ I noticed that design will be required but could not find information regarding the design e ort required. Our typical design build projects at Crane require 3 separate design submittals at 50%, 100% and final with Govt review periods of 14-21 days. This design process typically takes a minimum of 6 months and must be completed before construction begins. The RFQ indicates the total contracting period is only 60 days. What design e ort is required?

Build drawings will be required. It will not follow a typical 3-stop design review.

Offerors shall provide line drawings (e.g.: .pdf, .ppt. etc.) illustra ng proposed loca on of fire suppression & ligh ng features. Offerors are welcome to use the Floorplan provided (sheet A1) and mark up for approval. GOV review period will not exceed 5 business days.

2. I believe the existing wall that the new window is going in is a 1 HR rated wall. Will the new window also need to be 1 HR?

Yes, window shall meet or exceed wall ra ng.

3. What is the required height of the bullet-resistant window?

At least 3ft tall
