About this file

This sources sought notice requests information from industry for two efforts. The first is to prepare a design package for a segmented missile tube to support testing at a strategic weapons test facility. The design must be delivered by March 2027 and include plans for fabrication, assembly and installation. The second effort requires providing engineering support services for an air balance survey of a strategic weapons system onboard a proofing submarine following installation. Deliverables include test plans, data review and reports. The notice is to determine industry interest and capability without soliciting proposals. 3. The ETF Vertical Test Missile (VTM) is a special test vehicle (STV), comprised of an inert segmented missile loaded inside a LT inside a MT that has been segmented in two parts in a vertical orientation. The ETF VTM provides for developmental and proofing configurations for procedures such as Test Missile Kit 2 (TMK2), In-Tube Conversions (ITC), and Missile Service Unit (MSU)/Reentry Body (RB) operations. The VTM is the only location that can provide integrated guidance, fire control, and missile vertical testing for Mode 2 through Mode 14 prior to the D5LE2 Complex 46 X Flights. Therefore, the design package shall consider that the interfaces for these procedure developments, proofing, and training operations must be accurate. There is no need for pressurization, hydraulics, or missile heating and cooling; however, a three dimensional representation (actual hardware or mock-up) will be installed in the upper 80 inches of the Launch Tube to represent the In-Tube Missile Heating and Cooling (MHC) coordinated envelope.

4. The ETF VTM will be able to support the following trainings and developments with a segmented MT/LT that meets coordination for circularity:
