Appendix L N00019-15-R-0106 05 May 2015
UC-35 PAINT SPECIFICATION
1. General The airplane exterior paint finish is polyurethane. The polyurethane paint is comprised of a chemical film treatment, a primer coat and a topcoat.
2. Exterior Painting Requirements
The following listed items do not receive polyurethane paint finish and should be masked off during painting.
WARNING:
Make sure the static port height and slope are correct after the area around the static ports are painted, buffed, or polished to maintain the necessary configuration for Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum (RVSM) certified airplanes. Refer to Chapter 34, Pitot and Static – Maintenance Practices.
a. Wing leading edge is an unpainted surface.
b. Horizontal stabilizer leading edge is an unpainted surface.
c. Engine nacelle inlets are unpainted surfaces.
d. Various chrome latches used on access doors and panels.
e. Thrust reverser buckets (doors) are unpainted, polished surfaces.
f. Static ports are unpainted surfaces.
g. Do not paint polished surfaces.
CAUTION:
Make sure the flap vent holes are open after new paint has been applied. If the vent holes are blocked, damage to the flaps from frozen water can occur during flight. Refer to Model 500 Series Structural Repair Manual, Chapter 57, Composite Flap Vent Holes, for the vent hole locations.
h. Do not paint the flap vent holes.
3. Akzo-Nobel has discontinued manufacturing these AHS-G high solid series paints or paint codes, but has a suitable equivalent 4200 series paints that matches each of the required colors per paint code in the chart shall be used:
