About this file

This is a Minimum Requirements Document for a Gantner Data Acquisition (DAQ) System Upgrade for the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. The requirement calls for a modern, rack-mountable DAQ system to replace obsolete hardware used in static, fatigue, and thermo-mechanical testing at the Full Scale Structural Facility (FSSTF). The system must support a minimum of 1,000 simultaneous data channels across multiple sensor types at varying data rates, with a base capability of 200 samples per second. The hardware configuration includes 32 quarter-bridge strain measurement channels (350Ω, 1-10V excitation), 750 full-bridge channels for load cells and pressure sensors (120Ω/350Ω, up to 4V threshold/5V target), 100 analog input channels for voltage and current sensors (±10V, 4-20mA), 500 thermocouple channels supporting types S, K, C, T, N, E, B, and J with individual cold junction compensation, and 8 digital I/O channels at 24V. All input channels require 500VDC isolation, 0.05% acceptable error, and delta-sigma analog-to-digital conversion with minimum 20-bit resolution.

The procurement includes 10 19-inch rack-mountable chassis with 10 card slots each and 1TB SSD storage per unit, along with 8 real-time operating system controllers supporting 200 samples per second data acquisition and scalable/daisy-chainable architecture for future expansion. The companion software must operate on Windows 10 and 11 without internet connectivity, incorporating real-time graphical displays with 100ms latency and 30Hz update rates accessible remotely via web browser, snapshot capability for manual and triggered data capture, alarm thresholds with visual indication, high-speed data buffering (5 minutes pre- and post-event), calculated channels via virtual variables, plugin support with Python and LabVIEW APIs (MATLAB optional), integration with Modbus TCP/IP and EtherCAT protocols, and automatic remote data storage export. The solicitation is currently in Sources Sought phase (SS-AFRL-PZLEQ-2026-0008) with responses due by 11 March 2026 at 10 AM Eastern Time; this is not a commitment to award and does not obligate the Government to pay quote preparation costs. Responses should address company identification, small business status, and relevant capability and experience, submitted to Mike Hornberger at michael.hornberger.1@us.af.mil with subject line "Gantner DAQ System Upgrade." The NAICS code is 334515 (Search, Detection, Navigation, Guidance, Aeronautical, and Nautical Instrument Manufacturing).
