Statement of Work
Mobile grain elevator ADCP Installation
The selected contractor shall provide a crane and barge or vessel of appropriate size capable of transporting the steel I- beam and personnel to the worksite, and provide diving services. The crane and/or vessel shall be able to lift the ~1000 lb. 35 feet (ft) steel I-beam into place so that it can be attached to the concrete structure utilizing four compression clamps and 1 top plate. (Please see drawings provided for reference - “Mobile PORTS CU meter I Beam install.pdf”) This job is expected to consist of one 8 to 10 hour work day for the crane and diving work. The time frame for the work day to take place will be the end of September 2023. The Mobile PORTS property is located where the Eleventh St. and Steel Terminal Rd meet in Mobile, Alabama.
The contractor shall receive the shipment of the 35 ft. steel I-beam referenced above and store at their facility or vessel for an estimated time frame that could be in excess of one month prior to installation of the steel I-beam on the concrete pier beam under the grain elevator at the Mobile
PORTS.
The contractor shall provide the necessary crew and equipment to facilitate the safe transfer of the steel I-beam to their storage facility, and to the vessel for final transit to the work site. The back half of the mounting clamps will be installed on the I-beam and the beam will be lifted into place. The contractor shall provide a crew necessary for operating the vessel and crane, with additional deck support as necessary to accomplish the job safely. NOAA will provide the personnel needed to attach the above water bracket while the crane supports the beam in place. Once all topside supports are connected and the I-beam is resting on the top plate of the concrete pier, the diving work can begin.
The contractor shall provide commercial diving services and personnel to install the front halves of the final three clamps underwater around the pier piling using the compression style clamps provided. The dive crew will measure from the seafloor to the end of the beam and record measurement. Upon completion of all diving tasks, NOAA personnel will drill and install ½ inch S.S.
anchor studs using Hilti epoxy system thru the top plate to mount to the concrete pier.
NOAA will provide the steel I Beam, mounting clamps, hardware, and all topside equipment.
