About this file

This document is a minimum specifications file from Washington State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital detailing requirements for a surgical power drill driver procurement. The equipment is intended for small animal surgery, with specific technical requirements including drill speed of 1,300 rpm or greater, torque of 6.0Nm or greater, weight of 800g or less, and a non-autoclavable, non-nickel-based battery. Only new equipment will be considered, and refurbished equipment is explicitly excluded.

The university reserves the right to require a one-week demonstration period from the apparent successful bidder, with the supplier responsible for insured freight charges to WSU. After the demo period, WSU will either accept the equipment and issue a purchase order, return the demo unit at their expense, or keep the demonstrated unit and confirm the order for remaining bid materials. Vendors must provide formal quotes that include lead time and separate line items for estimated insured shipping costs. A Drill Saw Sports 400 is referenced as a comparable model meeting the minimum specifications.

BID: SURGICAL POWER DRILL DRIVER

Please provide a formal quote listing lead time and include a separate line item for estimated insured shipping costs.

PURPOSE:

To procure a surgical power drill driver to be used for small animal surgery in the Washington State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital.

MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS:

Detailed specifications for the power surgical drill driver are as follows:

Drill speed: 1300 rpm or greater Torque: 6.0Nm or greater Weight: 800g or less Battery: Non-autoclavable (nonsterile), not nickel-based

OTHER DETERMINING FACTORS

Drill set must be new; refurbished equipment will not be considered.

At our discretion, WSU reserves the right to require a demo of the proposed equipment prior to award from the apparent successful bidder. This demo should be the exact make & model as bid and the demo period for no less than one-week with the supplier responsible for the freight charges to WSU and shipped insured. At the end of the demo period, WSU will either choose to accept the equipment and issue the PO for the award and ship back the demo equipment (if equipment was anything other than new when delivered), at our own expense, or keep the equipment and the bid price and confirm the order for the rest of the bid material.

For comparison purposes, a Drill Saw Sports 400 has been identified as a surgical drill meeting the minimum specifications of our intended use.
