About this file
This is a Statement of Objectives for a federal procurement of salt fog corrosion test chambers by the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division (NSWCCD), Code 613.
NSWCCD Code 613 seeks to procure three salt fog corrosion test chambers to support research and development in coatings and corrosion mitigation technologies. The procurement includes two Model 22 Salt Fog Chambers and one Model 21 Salt Fog Chamber. Each Model 22 unit must feature a 30 cubic foot internal test exposure zone with minimum dimensions of 45 inches x 30 inches x 38 inches, a 55-gallon solution tank, the capability to perform ASTM B117, ISO 9227, and MIL-STD-810 corrosion tests, a full-view acrylic lid for sample observation, and operating requirements of 240 volts/3-phase/60 Hertz. The Model 21 unit must provide a 20 cubic foot internal test exposure zone with minimum dimensions of 29 inches x 30 inches x 38 inches, along with identical tank capacity, test capabilities, acrylic lid, and electrical requirements. Delivery shall be FOB Destination. The equipment will support the United States Marine Corps and other Department of Navy entities in fleet and warfighter mission readiness by enabling accelerated corrosion testing of equipment and coatings for use in corrosive environments.
