About this file
Summary of Commercial Printing Quote Requests
This document comprises three separate commercial printing quote requests issued by the University of Connecticut Communications department for distinct printing projects. MOCK Project #1 requests 130,000 books (21 x 10.5 inches folding to 10.5 x 10.5 inches) consisting of 24 pages plus cover and a 12-page booklet with a rectangular die-cut, printed on Cougar Opaque Smooth 80 stock with 4-color process plus overall uncoated aqueous varnish. MOCK Project #2 requests three quantity options—130,000, 140,000, and 150,000 units—of 8-page booklets (finished size 6.5 x 9.5 inches) on Cougar Bright White Smooth 80# stock with 6/6 color printing plus PMS 289 and satin aqueous varnish. MOCK Project #3 requests 160,000 4-panel double gatefold brochures with curved die-cut end panels (open flat 33.5 x 6 inches, folding to 9 x 6 inches) printed on Cougar Bright White Smooth 80# cover stock with 4/4 color plus uncoated aqueous varnish and clear foil stamping. All projects require electronic file transfer via FTP, pre-flight within 48 hours, color laser or dylux proofs with high-resolution color-accurate proofs, and press checks during normal business hours at vendor expense. Timeline and delivery dates are to be specified by the University.
All pricing must include delivery and transportation charges fully prepaid F.O.B. Destination with no additional packing charges permitted. Vendors must provide separate pricing for optional services including cost per additional or minus 1,000 copies, varnish file creation, hourly color correction rates, and author's alterations either per line or hourly at proof stage. Purchase orders will exceed the quoted amount by up to 12 percent to authorize author's alterations up to 10 percent and overruns up to 2 percent, with invoices required to itemize the base job, authorized alterations, and overruns separately. Deliveries vary by project, with MOCK Project #1 requiring distribution to five University locations (with 121,000 units to one location arriving in Gaylords and remainder in cartons not exceeding 30 pounds), MOCK Project #2 requiring distribution across seven University locations with 24-hour delivery notice, and MOCK Project #3 requiring delivery of 10 samples and the balance to a single location. All files and computer media generated by the contractor become property of the University of Connecticut, with failure to return materials potentially resulting in payment delays or penalty assessments deducted from invoices.
