About this file
This document contains the Salient Characteristics for a Mesh Radio Infrastructure system required by the 56 Range Management Office (56 RMO) at Luke Air Force Base. The system consists of 2 medium-range sector antennas and 7 short-range radios that will provide remote control of electronic equipment on the Barry M. Goldwater Range.
The medium-range antennas require 15-20 dBi gain, 10-watt transmit power, and 15-30 Mbps throughput, with 256-bit AES encryption and IP65 ingress protection. The short-range radios require 12-25 Mbps throughput, 2-watt transmit power, 10-watt power consumption, 256-bit AES encryption, and IP68 ingress protection. The radios must integrate with existing systems like Motorola APX 6000 and ATAK/ITAK, and operate in 1.25-20 MHz bandwidth channels without a license fee, with point-to-multipoint capability and 87 Mbps usable throughput. The government intends to issue a firm-fixed-price contract for this mesh radio system based on the provided salient characteristics.

Text version
Mesh Radio Infrastructure Salient Characteristics 56 Range Management Office requires a small-scale mesh radio system to allow for unencumbered radio antenna placement on the Barry M. Goldwater Range to allow for remote control of electronic equipment on the range.
Medium range (25nm) antennas along with short range (7-10nm) radios to collectively provide the mesh radio architecture desired. Radios will be connected into existing microwave backbone for backhaul to operating location.
Current fielding plan is 2 sector antennas and 7 short range radios.
Recommended operating characteristics.
Mesh Configuration: Token-based (TDMA) waveform that polls network devices to provide a form of ultra-low latency and packet loss.
