About this file

This bid request document is issued by the Maine Criminal Justice Academy for the procurement of one coach-type mass transit vehicle to support its training program. The Academy requires a bus with a seating capacity of at least 44 adults in high-backed seats, external luggage or equipment storage accessible from outside, and no school bus lighting. The vehicle must be rear engine diesel powered with a minimum of 230 horsepower and heavy duty automatic transmission, with minimum axle ratings of 23,000 lbs rear and 12,000 lbs front. The bus must be a 2001 model or newer with no more than 125,000 miles, meet current Maine inspection standards, be road ready, and have no history of accident damage exceeding $500. The vehicle must be delivered to or located within 50 miles of the Academy.

The procurement emphasizes environmental sustainability through the State of Maine's commitment to environmentally preferable purchasing practices. All vehicles must be delivered without lead wheel weights, with liquid balancer KTB tire treatment or approved equivalent preferred for tire balancing. This requirement aligns with Maine's policy to reduce acquisition of products containing chemicals that are persistent bioaccumulative toxicants (PBTs) or carcinogens, balancing price, performance, availability, and safety considerations across state purchasing initiatives by the Department of Administrative and Financial Services and the Division of Purchases.

The bus must be rear engine diesel powered with at least 230 horsepower and a heavy duty automatic transmission. Minimum axle ratings must be 23,000 lbs rear and 12,000 lbs front.

The bus must be a 2001 or newer model and have no more than 125,000 miles on it. It must meet or exceed current Maine Inspection Standards and be road ready. The vehicle must not have been involved in an accident where damage sustained to the bus was in excess of $500.00.

It must be either delivered, or located not more than 50 miles from the Academy.
