About this file

This is a Minimum Insurance Requirements document issued by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) for RFP 53-26, Mobile Device Deployment Services. The MBTA seeks a qualified vendor to provide a fully managed staff augmentation solution to support the accelerated deployment of iPads for approximately 3,750 frontline Operations employees across multiple departments. The document establishes mandatory insurance coverage requirements that the contractor must obtain and maintain throughout the entire contract term, including any extensions.

The contractor must carry Commercial General Liability Insurance with minimum limits of $1,000,000 per occurrence and $1,000,000 annual aggregate covering bodily injury, property damage, personal injury, and advertising injury. A specific policy endorsement is required that deletes any exclusion for work within 50 feet of rail. The contractor must also maintain Workers' Compensation Insurance with Employers Liability coverage including minimum limits of $1,000,000 per accident for bodily injury by accident, $1,000,000 per employee for bodily injury by disease, and $1,000,000 aggregate policy limit for bodily injury by disease. All insurance must be obtained from companies licensed by the Massachusetts Division of Insurance with a Best's rating of A- or better. Insurance must be in place before contract commencement and remain in full force throughout the contract term, be primary and non-contributory to MBTA coverage, and provide 30 days advance written notice of any cancellation. The MBTA must be named as an additional insured on the Commercial General Liability policy, and certificates of insurance must be provided at contract inception and maintained throughout the term. All subcontractors must obtain equivalent coverage for their operations.
