About this file
This is a Material Ordering Data sheet specifying requirements for corrosion-resistant steel bars under SAE-AMS-QQ-S-763D (dated August 2013, Stabilized March 2015). The material specification references IDN N4523A 6127-7917 and ICN 88MSM00001.
The ordering data specifies Class 304 stainless steel in annealed (A) condition, supplied as bars in the form of exact 10-foot lengths. The finish selected is pickled or blast cleaned and pickled. Cleaning is required as a mandatory process. The material must be furnished with continuous identification marking on all individual lengths prior to shipment; unmarked material will be rejected upon delivery. All unit intermediate and shipping containers must comply with MIL-STD-129 marking standards per DLA Procurement Note C20. The forging size and shape is specified as 1-inch diameter. Retests are permitted, and the material should be prepared for shipment using level C preparation. No special melting practice, machining allowances, magnetic permeability testing, macrostructure sampling, or forging prolongations are required. Any referenced specifications must be at the latest revision at the time of award.
