M702, M299, M752A1 and M1020 Ignition Cartridges (Market Survey) The U.S. Army Contracting Command- Rock Island (ACC-RI), Rock Island, IL on behalf of the Office of the Project Manager Combat Ammunition Systems (PM-CAS) is conducting a market survey to identify qualified sources of producing the M702, M299, M752A1, and M1020 Ignition Cartridges. The purpose of this market survey is to obtain current information on the capability of potential sources to provide these Ignition Cartridges to the warfighter to meet FY23-FY27 military requirements.
The 60mm M702, 81mm M299, 81mm M752A1, and 120mm M1020 Ignition Cartridges are comprised of head/body assemblies that hold a capped paper tube filled with a prescribed amount of propellant. The head/body assembly contains a firing plug that, when dropped down the mortar tube, compresses a percussion primer that initiates the energetic train. The primer’s output initiates the black powder pellet (s) which travels through a flash tube to initiate propellant inside the paper tube assembly. The ignition cartridge is loaded with a prescribed amount of propellant capable of providing a muzzle velocity necessary for 60mm, 81mm, and 120mm High Explosive (HE), Full Range Practice Cartridge (FRPC), Smoke, and Illumination mortar cartridges.
