About this file

This document is a Market Research Survey issued by the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Troop Support for a Fire Extinguisher with NSN 4210-01-583-8143. The survey seeks to gather market intelligence from potential vendors regarding the commercial availability, manufacturing capabilities, pricing, and sourcing of fire extinguishers, with DLA anticipating a Definite Quantity Contract for approximately 2,000 units. Key survey questions probe vendors on commercial marketplace presence, material composition, domestic sourcing, manufacturing capacity, pricing stability, quantity price breaks, and company capabilities such as EDI registration and small/large business status.

The related federal contract opportunity is a pre-solicitation Sources Sought Notice with export control requirements and specific technical specifications. Notable details include export control restrictions requiring Joint Certification Program (JCP) approval, mandatory Safety Data Sheet submissions, and shelf-life requirements of 60 months for the fire extinguisher. Two potential approved sources are identified: Oshkosh Defense LLC (75Q65) and Firetrace Aerospace LLC (3R5K2), with specific part numbers and packaging standards outlined in the document. The procurement will be managed by the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support Construction and Equipment, with packaging and marking to adhere to MIL-STD-2073-1E and MIL-STD-129 standards.
