About this file
This is a specifications document issued by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife for salmon trap nets to be used in marine applications. The document provides detailed material and construction specifications for trap nets, including components such as PVC floats (3.0" outer diameter, 1.25" height, spaced every 3.0 feet), lead weights (4.0 ounces, spaced every 2.0 feet), 0.25" polyester rope, and #147 or #189 knotless nylon net material with 0.75" bar measure mesh size. The net assembly includes a 100-foot long by 4-foot high lead line with 33 floats and 50 lead weights, along with a box structure measuring 4.0 feet wide by 4.0 feet deep by 6.0 feet long, a bonnet measuring 12.0 feet wide by 4.0 feet deep by 12.0 feet long, and wings measuring 4.0 feet deep by 17.75 feet long. All net materials and lead components must be treated with black net dip to strengthen the net and prevent fish gilling. The specification includes three marine-grade #10 zippers, 36 inches long and non-separating, positioned at the top of the box and at the top of each wing.
The document indicates that the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife will require periodic net repairs and is willing to transport nets to a vendor's location for service. Vendors are required to specify their location in their bids, and those located outside the New England area must provide information regarding shipping costs to the State of Maine, which may be a factor in award determination. All questions regarding the RFQ must be submitted through the designated Question and Answer link on the Solicitation Details View page, with vendors responsible for monitoring posted responses.
