About this file
This document is a Telecommunications Site Plan for the EHRM Infrastructure Upgrades project at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, WI, issued for construction on July 22, 2022. The project is managed by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Construction and Facilities Management, with TRIPLE C - The A/E Group serving as the Architect/Engineer of Record.
The contractor is required to install four new 4-inch PVC conduits with trenching and landscape restoration along two fiber routes (Path A and Path B), with directional boring at sidewalks, curbs, and asphalt areas. Key deliverables include: providing 24-fiber redundant OSP OS2 fiber to each outbuilding with physically separated routes; replacing the main incoming WAN fiber from the service provider to Building 01 in coordination with the provider and Contracting Officer's Representative (COR); constructing new handholes; installing fiber cable trays within an overhead walkway; relocating existing Cable TV head-end equipment from Building 5 and ground level locations to the upper penthouse roof of Building 1; installing new underground copper conduit with Cat 6A fiber between Buildings 5 and 4; and coordinating with the COR regarding the University of Wisconsin helicopter pad during construction. All new underground conduit must maintain a minimum 20-foot separation from existing or new conduits. The contractor must retain an independent service to verify and mark all underground utilities using both ground-penetrating radar and potholing, hand-dig within 5 feet of known utilities, and provide one hard copy and one electronic copy of the utility survey to the VA. Existing direct bury facility television fiber backbone and electrical/telecommunication manholes must remain protected in place.
