QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Questions And Answers On the solicitation in 6.5 it talks about movement between sight. Are you wanted the contractor/vendor to move equipment more than the initial drop off and final pickup?
Yes, there will be a need to move equipment more than initial drop off and pickup due to the distances between job sites. The solicitation lists “Chapman Ranch” on CR 45 as the drop off point due to it being an actual location whereas the first project will actually be 3 miles North of Chapman Ranch. During IRT Nueces County 2021, the contractor delivery driver called the COR and utilizing dropped pins, etc. were able to figure out the drop location.
After the initial drop at Site 1 we anticipate one week plus/minus a few days to complete that road work before moving to Site 2 which is right next to the drop off point listed in the solicitation. The equipment to be moved would just be the smooth drum and padfoot rollers and possibly the skidsteer as everything else is rubber tired and able to transit the roads without issue. Site 2 is adjacent to Site 3 therefore we don’t anticipate any moves made there. Due to the short duration of the exercise we don’t foresee work being completed at Site 4 by Driscoll, Texas, however if work progresses faster than scheduled we would require one more move of the aforementioned equipment from Site 3 to Site 4.
“6.5 Movement between sites. Tracked equipment will be required at multiple project sites with a 20-mile radius of Robstown, TX during the project lifespan. As a project is nearing completion and within 24 hours of being notified by COR the rental company shall transport equipment to follow on job sites.”
Can you tell what project the equipment will be used for?
The equipment will be utilized to repair and maintain existing unimproved roads in Nueces County. Our plan is to use the motorized graders to grade and crown the road ways as well as cut ditches along the shoulder. The rollers will ensure a stable subgrade prior to the graders being used to spread base rock and put the final crown on the road. Then the smooth drum and pneumatic roller will conduct the final compaction. Water trucks will be used throughout the process for dust mitigation and to ensure proper compaction. Skidsteer and wheeled loader are on hand to move spoil and spread rock as needed.
