Q&A
Q&As
1. “3.2.1. ERP (30-3000 MHz): 60 db required/63 db preferred.” Is this spec in dBm or dBW? That is, assuming it is dBm, then the spec is 1 kW required / 2 kW preferred.
Answer- dBm, and yes the dbm to watts calculations “the spec is 1 kW required / 2 kW preferred” is correct.
2. “3.1.5. Simultaneous EA channel separations: >200 MHz". Is this referring to the amount of spectrum that the system needs to monitor for signals to jam? That is, the system needs to be capable of monitoring at least 200 MHz anywhere between 30 MHz and 3 GHz.
Answer- No, the system needs to be able to conduct EA on two channels that operate more than 200 MHz apart. i.e. conduct an attack against 42 MHz @ 12.5kHz BW and 278 MHz@12.5 <mailto:MHz@12.5> KHz BW
3. “3.1.8. Side Band transmissions: <500 khz outside of the desired bandwidth". Please provide clarification.
Answer- The transmission path must have some software or hardware to prevent spurious transmissions more than 500 kHz outside the desired bandwidth.
4. Is there a spec for transmitter harmonic suppression? For example, if a jamming signal is being emitted at 100 MHz, how far down (in dB) must the signal level be at 200 MHz, 300 MHz, and other harmonics?
Answer- The expectation is atleast 20 db suppression as per the previous requirement
5. “3.3.1. Knowledge of Defense communications systems”. Are you able to provide a list of systems that may be encountered during SLTE.
Answer- SINCGARS, HAVEQUICK, ANW2, MOUS are the primary ones they would encounter.
6. “3.2.1. Self-sustainment for all logistical needs to include lodging, food, water, fuel, transportation, power, and maintenance". Will our team be expected to stay overnight on the range, or will they be returning to a “base camp” (either on or off base) at the end of each day?
Answer- You will not be required to stay overnight on the range.
