About this file
This document is a detailed specification for an Explosion Resistant Oven for the Department of the Air Force's Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex at Tinker Air Force Base. The 76 MXSG (Maintenance Squadron) is requesting a commercial off-the-shelf laboratory oven with specific technical requirements, including explosion resistance for testing flammable materials. Key specifications include a compact external footprint of 40" x 40" x 60", interior chamber dimensions between 22"-36" cubic, temperature range of 22-260 degrees Celsius, 208V electrical compatibility, and a programmable temperature controller capable of storing 50 different methods/profiles with up to 10 programmable segments per profile.
The oven must meet NFPA 86 Class A safety requirements, have isolated electrical heating elements, horizontal recirculating airflow, and be operable without external network connections. Installation will be performed by Tinker on-site personnel, with the vendor required to provide necessary installation drawings, electrical diagrams, exhaust venting guidelines, and user manuals. The specification emphasizes that no specialized training beyond manufacturer instructions is required, and the equipment must be easily integrated into the Composites/Shelf-Life Lab facilities.

OKLAHOMA CITY AIR LOGISTICS COMPLEX (AFMC)
TINKER AIR FORCE BASE OKLAHOMA
M25-028 Explosion Resistant Oven
76 MXSG are requesting funds for the purchase of the following product. Composites/Shelf-Life Lab Explosion Resistant Oven. The requirement must have the following specifications:
• All electrical heating elements shall be isolated/protected to reduce sparking and ignition risks when testing samples containing flammable solvents and/or materials with high volatile content.
• The oven shall meet NFPA 86 Class A requirements for flammable solvents, including a forced exhaust, purge timer, and pressure relief pan.
• The oven shall use horizontal recirculating airflow throughout the oven.
• The complete system external footprint shall be no greater than 40" x 40" x 60" (W x D x
H).
• The interior chamber dimensions shall be a minimum of 22" x 22" x 22" (W x D x H) & maximum of 36" x 36" x 36" (W x D x H).
• The temperature range supported shall be 22 degrees Celsius to 260 degrees Celsius with tolerance of +/- 2 degrees Celsius.
• The oven shall be compatible with facility electrical power requirements of 208V 1 or 3-
Phase/60Hz.
• The oven shall be initially calibrated by the manufacturer and a NIST traceable calibration certificate provided to the lab upon purchase.
• The oven shall have a programmable temperature controller that allows all settings and functions to be inputted via a button, buttons, or digital touchscreen with finger pressure.
• The oven shall have a programmable temperature controller that allows the following modes, at a minimum:
o Single set point mode which allows the user to set and maintain a temperature ranging from 22 degrees C to 260 degrees C with tolerance of +/- 2 degrees C for up to at least 72 hours and/or until manually turned off.
o Programmable mode which allows the user to create and store a minimum of 50 different methods/profiles/programs.
Each method/profile/program shall enable the oven to automatically execute the following types of segments/steps within the operating range of 22 degrees C to 260 degrees C with tolerance of +/- 2 degrees C:
Increase (ramp up) temperature at a rate of at least 2 degrees C per minute.
Maintain temperature for specified duration (up to at least 72 hours).
Decrease (ramp down) temperature at a rate of at least 2 degrees C per minute.
Each method/profile/program shall be capable of executing up to at least
10 segments/steps.
• The creation, modification, and programming of any and all methods/profiles/programs and single set points shall not require any external network connection or connection to a laptop, desktop, the internet, Bluetooth connected device or cloud-based service.
• The oven shall be able to start heating, set temperature, set run time, and stop heating without any external network connection or connection to a laptop, desktop, the internet, Bluetooth connected device or cloud-based service.
• The oven shall be a commercial off-the-shelf item such that no specialized training is required other than manufacturer user/owner manuals and manufacturer operating instructions for the equipment.
• The oven shall be a commercial off-the-shelf item that Tinker on-site personnel are capable of installing and integrating with the Composites/Shelf-Life Lab facilities.
o Electrical connections and exhaust ducting shall be part of the installation handled by Tinker on-site personnel.
o Vendor shall provide drawings, electrical diagrams, exhaust venting guidelines, and user/owner manuals required for Tinker personnel to be able to complete the installation.
