M00264-18-Q-0215 Questions & Answers
Question 1.): Does the NMMC have specific product requirements on the shop towels (brand, size/measurements, etc.)? Or, would you like us to suggest products?
Answer 1.): The white towels are a type commonly seen in maintenance shops and they measure approximately 12 inches squared. The red towels are also a type very commonly seen in maintenance activities and they measure 14 inches squared. The blue "microfiber/lint-free" towels are 11 inches squared. I've seen in yellow or blue but the color isn't critical. What is important is that they are constructed of a microfiber material that does not leave lint or fibers behind when we use them to clean and prepare surfaces for paint spraying applications.
Question 2.): Under Section 3.2, the language states that the contractor will replace lost/worn rags to maintain quantity levels. Does this mean that if 10 out of 100 red towels are used in a given month, then I should ship another 10 that same month, or ship 10 towels the following month to maintain 100 units?
Answer 2.): All vendors that have provided service to us in the past visit our facility to collect all of the used shop towels on a month to month basis. While on site and after collecting the used towels they replenish the quantities for each of the 3 types of towels so that we have the full required stock on-hand. For instance, if on their monthly visit they collected 100 dirty microfiber towels, 97 dirty red towels and 32 dirty white towels, the vendor would replenish our supply on-hand by adding back 100 clean microfiber towels, 97 clean red towels and 32 clean white towels. After the pick-up run, our shop would be fully stocked with 160 clean microfiber towels, 100 clean red towels and 50 clean white towels.
Question 3.): What is the frequency of pickup are you looking for in this bid? We can offer a deep discount if we can ship once a month the replacements directly to you, and your organization discards the old shop towels.
Answer 3.): Pickup of used towels and replenishment with clean towels for all three types of shop towels on a 30 day cycle seems to be a good rotation. We do not have the means to properly dispose of hazardous waste so discarding of the used towels by our activity will not be acceptable.
