U.S. MARINE DRUM & BUGLE CORPS

DRUM ROOM SOUND PANEL REPLACEMENT

STATEMENT OF WORK

1.0 Background

“The Commandant’s Own,” The United States Marine Drum & Bugle Corps (D&B) is a high-profile military musical unit based out of Marine Barracks Washington, in Washington, DC. The D&B performs ceremonial events for audiences of prominence, civilian communities, Cabinet-level and Congressional guests, senior military officials, VIP’s, and Heads of State. These performances captivate and thrill audiences worldwide. They are viewed at ticketed high school and college band events and are also seen on national television broadcasts, websites, and print media. The D&B’s performance and rehearsal facilities in Building 9 at Marine Barracks Washington require high levels of sound absorption and special acoustical sound panels to accommodate the requirements of the Department of the Navy Hearing Conservation Program. The existing sound panels in the Drum Room of Building 9 were originally installed in 2010.

1.1 Objectives

This requirement is for replacement and upgrade of existing panels to a “tracked” fabric panel system which would allow for easier and cost-effective replacement of individual sections as needed due to wear and damage in the future, without having to replace all the panels in the room. New panels will need to coincide with existing design and décor currently used in Building 9 to keep uniformity.

· Furnish and install new two-inch (2”) thick stretched fabric track in the D&B Drum Room.

· Furnish and install new two-inch (2”) thick, six (6) PCF (a density of 6 pounds per cubic foot) rigid fiberglass within framework in the D&B Drum Room.

· Furnish and install new fabric. Fabric material shall be Regatta 2400 by Guilford of Maine, to match and complement existing panels in Building 9.

· Edge specification shall be two-inch (2”) square.
