GENERAL QUESTIONS ANSWERS

Are you requesting costs only? No

Are you requesting a proposal outlining qualifications, past performance, and project approach? Yes, all three (3)

Can you clarify what level of readiness graphics and text will be presented to contractor? Will they be production ready, or will graphic development be necessary?

Some graphic development may be necessary

Clin 0001- Drummer Boy

Will a dedicated speaker system be incorporated as well? Yes, due to space limitations an internal speaker system will be more beneficial

Are there any specifics about the animated content to be produced? YES

Based on the RFQ, I see that the intent is to display a full/life-size drummer boy on a large format LCD in portrait orientation, with the animation to be triggered by a motion sensor.

Is the intent that there is only to be a single, pre-rendered sequence that is played when triggered? If not, how many different variations would there be?

Intent is for SINGLE animation

What is the intended duration of the 3d sequence(s)? 30 – 45 seconds

What is the time period of the drummer boy's attire? Colonial period civilian attire. A painting showing the drummer boy attire and drum will be provided

What drum piece(s) would the drummer boy play? A painting showing the drummer boy attire and drum will be provided

Does an audio recording of the intended drum piece(s) exist that can be shared with the producer?

Currently researching what would be a proper, period drum cadence would sound like

Do reference photos or videos of a comparable drummer boy performance exist that can be shared with the producer?

Yes, artwork and sketches will be provided

Does a script, outline, or rough content treatment exist for the presentation?

For the animation: The life size digital screen showing an animated drummer boy, based on the sketch by Charles Waterhouse, with the banner “Join the Marines” floating overhead on the digital screen itself. Upon entering the room and pressing a push or setting off an electric eye, to start the animation will cause the drummer boy to begin beating out a cadence, then he will turn to his right (left to the viewer) and march forward while drumming, with banner overhead, leading the visitor into the display.

Was there some aspect of having the presentation be in 3d (vs a video recording of a performer in costume) that was considered to be preferential?

What is the purpose of this exhibit?

The purpose of the animation is to catch the eye of the visitor and lead them into the exhibit hall by illustrating how potential recruits were led by a drummer, who paraded about a town, to a recruiting office.

How will visitors interact with this exhibit? This will be the first display that visistors see upon entering the space to direct them further into the exhibit hall.

What is the subject of the exhibit? The animation is to show one of the recruiting tactics used by the Marine Corps during the Revolutionary War.

Will the client provide content and supporting images? YES

Will the unit hang on a wall, or does it need to be self-supporting? Self Supporting

What are the media specs for development of Dummer Boy exhibit media? Life Size (65 inch vertical screen)

Do you envision a specific depth or distance from the wall for the kiosk? Up against the back panel

Will the kiosk and associated AV equipment be considered plug-and-play or will the contractor have to make alterations to available power?

The kiosk should be Plug and Play

CLIN 0002 Backlit Panels

What is the purpose of this exhibit? To display artwork of the American Revolution

How will visitors interact with this exhibit? Static display for visitors to view

What is the subject of the exhibit? Series of paintings by Charles Waterhouse

Will the client provide content and supporting images? YES

Will the contractor design the vinyl graphics? YES

Will the contractor to design and build special cases to house each of the 4 backlit panels?

If using Edgelite Panels, they come with their own housing.

Will need to be mounted about 6-8inches off the floor.

Do they need design or will the graphics and lettering be provided production ready? The graphics and lettering will be provided

Will contractor be required to prepare walls for cleats to hang back lit panels? YES

Does the client have any designs, layouts, elevations etc that can be supplied to the proposers? YES

CLIN 0003 Divider & Interpretive Panels

What is the purpose of this exhibit? To provide content and context about Colonial Marines

How will visitors interact with this exhibit? Statics display to read

What is the subject of the exhibit? content and context related to Colonial Marines

Will the client provide content and supporting images? YES

How many dividers are required? 2 (Two)

Will the divider/dividers be used to support the vinyl panels? YES

Does each of the four panels require its own divider? No, there will be two (2) panels per divider

What will the dividers attach to? Do the dividers need to be self-supporting? Dividers will be Self Supporting

What is the purpose of the divider? Provide graphic space?

Block sound bleed? Provide privacy?

Dividers will provide graphic space and hide interior exhibits from view, casuing visitors to want to enter the display room and learn more about the Marines in the

Revolution.

Will the divider be free standing or attached to a wall on one end or both? Free Standing

Should the divider be considered permanent or will it have definite life span? Dividers will have a definite lifespan

It sounds like the panels go on the divider, but then would the graphics on the dividers be UNDER the panels? This sentence, “(4) vinyl prints to be installed over each divider” makes it sound like the panels go ON TOP of the dividers, is this true?

No, the panels will be attached to the sides of the divider.

Are the (4) panels with vinyl graphics go on one side of the divider? Spead out on both sides?

There will be two (2) panels per divider – One panel per side.

Any graphic or sketch of the design vision would be helpful. Currently under development

What is included in the demolition portion of the project?

No demolition necessary
