Q & A
Q: Are Corbels needed?
A: We are not committed to having Corbels.
Q: Both rectangular tables are specified with solid wood tapered legs, but also drum bases. Are drum bases needed?
A: No drum base needed.
Q: Lectern Exhibit The height is specified as 32”/42” What does this mean? Is it adjustable in height?
A: The Lectern should be adjustable. Post award coordination must be made with AV contractor.
Q: Connector walls. There is a connector wall specified in the judge's courtroom but not in the members’ courtroom while the plan shows one there. Should I include that?
A: Connector walls are not required.
Q: Gallery Divider Walls: These two walls in the members courtroom are specified with removable access panels and integrated wire management. Do they need to run cabling through these walls?
And if so, do they need cut-outs for receptacles?
A: We do not need removable panels. There will be no cabling running through walls. No need for cut-outs for receptacles.
Q: Jury Boxes Both jury boxes have some rectangles shown on the user side of the jury walls. What do they represent? Screens? Work surfaces? Floor outlets?
A: There needs to be space for both work surface and computer screens in front of jury members.
Q: Jury Boxes: Only one of the jury boxes (elevated box in judge’s courtroom) is specified to have removable access panels and integrated cabling. Is this correct?
A: Both need removable access panels. Final configuration must be coordinated with AV courtroom contractor.
Q: Court clerk's desk: the desk of the court clerk in the member's courtroom is specified to be 28” wide. Is that correct? Also, there is no mention of a similar unit in the judge's courtroom although the plan shows one there.
A: Yes. This is in order to have a counter for exhibit placement (BOTH courtrooms).
Q: Pews: the spec calls for “faux leather” which we understand to be a leather looking vinyl. Our quote will include any “leather look” vinyl from United Fabrics
A: “Leather look” is considered “faux leather” and is ok.
Q: Platforms: The specifications do not include any covering for the platforms, just specifying 3/4” thick plywood for the deck, so our quote will specify unfinished wood platforms to be carpeted by others in field after installation.
A: Platforms can be left ‘unfinished’ (will have to match carpeting in courtrooms).
Q: The judge’s bench, witness stand and court clerk desk are specified with solid steel mounting hardware. These units are self-supporting and connected between them. Where would the mounting hardware go and why is it necessary?
A: Floor mounting – for stability.
Q: Circular tables: Do they want any detail of the drum base of the tables? (see sketch) what about power/voice/data receptacles on the top? Will there be cabling inside the tables and if so should there be service panels to access that?
A: No detail required. No cabling or service panels required. There are no power/voice/data receptacles required.
