About this file
This document is a U.S. Air Force quality assurance requirements specification for first article test plans and reports for F100 engine parts.
The document establishes mandatory guidelines for contractors to prepare and submit first article test plans (FATP) and first article test reports (FATR) for F100 engine components. First articles must be serialized and tested per contract quantity requirements, with one article subjected to full destructive testing and remaining articles tested only on nondestructive portions. Testing requirements encompass dimensional conformance with finish requirements, non-destructive inspections (FPI, Ultrasonic, Eddy Current, X-ray, visual), material properties verification (mechanical, metallurgical, chemical), and compliance with all drawing specifications, sub-tier specifications, and engineering instructions. All dimensional measurements must be performed on 100% of first articles without sampling, documented in tabular format with drawing dimensions, tolerances, actual readings, and instrument serial numbers. Non-destructive inspections must comply with LPR-QPR-018 standards, include 100% inspection per Quality Assurance Documents (QAD), utilize Pratt & Whitney approved sources, and be conducted by Level III or Level II inspectors as applicable, with calibration documentation included. Material properties testing must verify composition, heat treatment, metallurgical microanalysis, and mechanical properties per specifications, with results including complete laboratory reports and photomicrographs. The FATP and FATR shall be delivered to the Contracting Officer per contract schedule or Form DD1423, providing detailed test descriptions and all laboratory results. Contractors must fabricate articles from materials compliant with drawing metallurgical state requirements, use only previously identified subcontractors for laboratory testing unless OEM approval is obtained for alternatives, and recognize that Engineering Instructions take precedence over all other technical instructions. Disposition of tested articles includes delivery of destructive testing remnants and one unserviceable article with the FATR per contract requirements.
