About this file
This is a technical requirements specification document for a Lightning Protection System procurement by the Pacific Air Forces at Eielson AFB, Alaska.
The requirements call for twenty-four (24) portable lightning protection systems capable of protecting F-35 aircraft parked in open, austere conditions during lightning events. Key technical specifications include: minimum height of 38 feet, ability to conduct lightning strikes up to 200 kA, grounding cable minimum 50 feet long with 2/0 AWG wire gauge, ability to withstand 1.4 inches per hour rainfall and 120 mph winds without ground fastening, ice accretion up to 3 inches, and operational/storage temperature range of -60 to 160 degrees. The document appears to be part of a market research/sources sought notice to gather vendor feedback on the requirements and assess market capabilities.
