2. Nature and/or description of the action being approved.

a. Acquisition purpose and objectives.

o The Online Subscription to IEEE contains three components that promote the development and application of electro technology and allied sciences for the benefit of humanity, and the advancement of the profession. The IEEE fosters the development of standards that often become national and international standards. The online subscription provides invaluable information to our engineers. It is essential for the commission to have access to all of the journal articles as well as the technical standards that IEEE creates. Access to these Standards is critical for drafting agency rules and decisions. The three components consist of the following:

o IEEE Enterprise (IEEE Downloads). Standards is the following information:

More than two million documents from IEEE journals, magazines, transactions and conferences

A back-file to the late 1800s for select titles More than 274,000 AIP/AVS documents from five top applied physics publications, with a back-file from 1930 More than 5,000 documents from the IBM Journal of Research and Development with a back-file to 1957 Unlimited viewing of expanded abstracts Access to the file cabinet.

IEEE provides invaluable information to our engineers and is essential to their work in the commission to have access to all of the journals and technical standards.

3. Description of the supplies or services required to meet the agency’s needs (including the estimated value).

a. Project title.

o IEEE All Periodical and Standards Online Package

b. Project description.

o IEEE Standards Online subscriptions provides full access to all available active, approved and unapproved drafts, archived and withdrawn IEEE standards that underpin many of today's products and services, particularly telecommunications, information technology and power generation.
