The project involves constructing a new single-story fire station located at 1451 Mill Slough Rd, with a 13,000 gross square foot facility featuring a 3-bay apparatus area, CMU and structural steel construction, flat roofing system, and metal framing interiors. The station will include 10 standard bunk rooms. Bids are due electronically through Building Connected by July 1, 2025, at 4:00 PM, with construction expected to start in Q4 2025 and substantial completion targeted for Q2 2027. The design team includes The Lunz Group (Architect), Fullone Structural Group, OCI Associates, and KPM Franklin.
The bid process requires electronic submission and prequalification through CORE Construction. Bidders must provide comprehensive insurance coverage, with subcontracts over $50,000 requiring payment and performance bonds from a Florida-licensed surety with a Best's Rating of A- or better. The project encourages small business enterprise and minority participation, with an Owner Direct Purchasing program for major material and equipment purchases. Bidders are expected to maintain project timelines potentially through additional manpower, overtime, or double shifts without extra compensation. CORE Construction and Palm Beach County will be named as additional insureds, and the project demonstrates a commitment to local infrastructure development through this fire station construction initiative.
