REQUEST FOR INFORMATION
KC-46A Spare Landing Gears
AFLCMC/WLC
A. Description
The Government in support of the KC-46A Program Office is seeking information on contractors interested in and capable of supporting its requirements for Landing Gear (767-300F) spares.
THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) ONLY. This RFI is issued solely for information and planning purposes – it does not constitute a Request for Quote (RFQ) or a promise to issue an RFQ in the future. This request for information does not commit the
Government to contract for any supply or service whatsoever. Further, the Government is not at this time seeking quotes and will not accept unsolicited quotes. Respondents are advised that the
U.S. Government will not pay for any information or administrative costs incurred in response to this RFI; all costs associated with responding to this RFI will be solely at the interested party’s expense. Not responding to this RFI does not preclude participation in any future RFQ, if any is issued.
B. Background
The KC-46 Aircraft provides worldwide, day and night, and adverse weather aerial refueling to receiver-capable US, allied, and coalition military aircraft, including unoccupied aircraft.
The KC-46 Tanker is a commercial derivative of the Boeing 767-2C aircraft, finished to meet unique KC-46 Tanker requirements. The KC-46A is in need of spare landing gears to install on aircraft that are undergoing depot level maintenance.
C. Scope
The Government is interested in Industry’s perspective on potential procurement of “N” spare sets of landing gears (1 set = 1x nose landing gear and 2x main landing gears) for the
KC-46A fleet. The Government would need initial set of spare sets by 4th quarter CY 2027.
The following Boeing Part numbers apply to the Landing Gears spare sets that would need to be provided:
161T1000-887 Build – Up Assembly LH
161T2000-41 Strut Assembly LH, 161T6000-27 Strut Assembly – MLG Drag-LH
161T1000-888 (MLGs)
161T2000-42 Strut Assembly RH
161T6000-28 Strut Assembly - MLG Drag-RH
162T1000-13 (NLG)
161T2000-16 Strut Assembly – NLG Drag
Parties interested in responding to this RFI must provide the following information and/or documentation that demonstrates and justifies the company’s technical capability to provide spare landing gears. Please answer the below questions:
1. Does your company currently have the manpower, technical expertise/skill set, and capability to provide the landing gear described in Section C above? Please answer either
‘Yes’ or ‘No’.
2. What is the lead time to manufacture or procure and deliver a “new” landing gear spare set?
3. How long would you expect a “new” landing gear spare set to last before the next overhaul is required?
4. How long does it take to procure and deliver a “used” landing gear spare set?
5. How long would you expect a “used” landing gear spare set last before the next overhaul is required?
6. What could the Government expect to pay for a “new” landing gear spare set?
7. What could the Government expect to pay for a “used” landing gear spare set?
8. Is there a maximum or minimum number of spare sets that the vendor could produce in a given calendar year?
9. What is the potential vendor’s interest in competing for this effort?
10. Are there any other issues/concerns that the government should consider when purchasing spare sets?
