| Please Provide the Purpose/Objective and Background 2: The Financial Times (FT) newspaper is a respected global publisher of international business and financial news. Their global coverage of political, economic, and industry topics, and strong reputation make their news and analysis essential reading for many DFC staff who need to track risks, opportunities, and trends around the globe from a business, economic, and political perspective. The Financial Times is the only vendor who can provide the quality and data required by the DFC. |
The majority of content is proprietary and created by its own network of over 600 journalists. Digital access to the FT can only be purchased directly through FT, and even though FT articles can be enabled to appear on other technology platforms, no other provider is contractually allowed to license or charge for FT content. FT is the only provider of FT.com and all digital access contracts have to be directly with the Financial Times. The site license will support broad agency business applications.

| Provide a statement Price: The price is determined to be fair and reasonable based on an analysis of the cost of print subscriptions and the limited number of DFC staff those reach, versus enterprise-wide electronic access for general and core readers. Over 200 DFC staff have accounts on our FT.com subscription. Digital access provides 60% more content than the print, as well as faster access to the content, and added benefits like personalization. Proposed price increases are 3% or less per year, which is very reasonable. |
