Text6: CG01 has been outfitted with a proprietary avionics system that provides dual air to ground communications for narrowband data and high speed
Text7: Internet. Currently, Gogo/Aircell equipment is hard wired to the fuselage of the aircraft; the manufacturer also owns the associated air to ground
Text1: internet service. On board, this service is used to provide wifi access to the air crew for flight planning/communications purposes. The senior
Text8: traveler does not use the Aircell/Gogo service as he/she is connected via KU/KA band via additional SATCOM Direct service.

Text10: The C-37A ("CG01") aircraft is shared for Long-Range Command and Control Mission requirements by the USCG Commandant and the Secretary
Text11: of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The Secretary of DHS and the USCG Commandant are authorized "required use" transportation from
Text12: White House due to unique security and communications requirement. In order to support these missions, it is essential that the flight crew remains
Text13: connected with the ground planning team in order to accommodate last minute schedule changes. In addition, this wifi service provides access to
Text14: in flight weather/flight planning products that provide data that is critical to the safety of flight.
Text15: Aircell is the only company with the service compatible with the equipment installed on CG01. This airtime subscription is necessary to utilize the
Text16: installed data communications equipment. In order to support an alternative service, we would need to fly the aircraft to Gulfstream, uninstall
Text17: hardware, install alternate hardware, and fly the aircraft back to the unit. This would results in the aircraft being down for a few days, and would
Text18: limit our VIP's access to the aircraft unnecessarily. In addition, this would be cost prohibitive.
Text19:
Text20: Due to the proprietary nature of Aircell engineering descriptions and their associated exclusive service rights. Installing alternate hardware
Text21: would be cost prohibitive, and would limit crew availability and plane access for our senior federal officials.

Text24:
Text25: When the aircraft was purchased the Coast Guard committed to utilizing Aircell/Gogo service due to the equipment installed on board the aircraft.
Text26: Alternate service is not compatible with hardware; changing out the hardware is cost prohibitive.
