MEMORANDUM FOR MICC-Fort Drum
SUBJECT: Brand Name Exact Match Memo for FedBid Buy 920426
1. The following items are provided by Legend Fitness, a company that provides commercial grade, high quality physical fitness equipment that is made in the U.S.A. and is more cost effective than comparable equipment from other vendors. 1st SFG (A) will utilize this equipment as part of an upgrade to our THOR 3 functional fitness facility, servicing 2nd BN, 3rd BN, 4th BN, Group Support Battalion, and 1st SFG (A) HQ. The equipment will aide in enhancing exercise and physical fitness while supporting injury recovery to assigned 1st SFG (A) personnel. Legend Fitness is tested and deemed reliable by 1st SFG (A). The purchase of this equipment is to replace current equipment 1st SFG (A) determines no longer meets commercial quality standard or is serviceable.
2. We obtained three quotes from industry leaders to ensure proper competition. Legend Fitness is the only company that can meet our mission needs in regards to the specific timeframe, coordination of all projects (flooring and equipment), customized equipment and flooring, delivery, and installation. The organization broke up the equipment and flooring requirements in order to increase competition. Breaking up the equipment and flooring allowed 1st SFG (A) to use multiple vendors who only specialize in fitness equipment and others who specialize in flooring. Despite this method, it was determined to be less cost effective to the organization.
Three (3) quotes were obtained from market leaders in performance equipment: Legend Fitness, EliteFTS, and Rogue Fitness. Legend Fitness’ quote came in the lowest, and includes all strength and conditioning equipment to meet our specifications and installation of equipment.
EliteFTS’ quote for strength and conditioning equipment came significantly higher than Legend Fitness. Rogue Fitness’ quote came in at almost double the amount, didn’t include installation, and strength and conditioning equipment does not meet our specifications. All quotes were obtained during the month of February 2018.

3. Legend fitness is the only product that meets the unit’s need as it is interchangeable with equipment already in use by 1st SFG (A) THOR 3 Fitness Facility, and it exceeds the standards.
This facility increases physical fitness and injury healing through physical therapy of Soldier’s assigned to 1st SFG (A). Equipment provided by Legend Fitness can tolerate the continued use and rigor by multiple members of 1st SFG (A) to ensure deployability and physical readiness in preparation for missions around the Globe. Legend Fitness is tested and vetted, meeting all standards of the 1st SFG (A) THOR 3 performance standards in relation to physical fitness and readiness. We require American-made equipment, built strong, while reasonably priced, with a standard of detail and quality in each product. The ability to provide equipment that can meet the demands of constant use, provide ease of access to customer service, and deliver to our facility while providing installation is critical. Our organization requires commercial quality and durable products, and cost effective to the unit. 1st SFG (A) requires the completion of this project prior to the summer deployment cycle. Failure to meet this timeline will result in diminished Soldier performance and reduced readiness across the force.
4. For the reasons listed above, the 1st Special Forces Group requests that a brand name or particular item(s) purchase of Legend Fitness Strength Equipment.
