Vicksburg, MS Harbor is estimated to cost $8,000 - $10,000 per day of towing plus an estimated $5,000 - $7,000 per day while repairs are being performed at the shipyard. These cost increases are due to having to pay more for labor (two 12 hour shifts), supplies, groceries, and fuel while the towboat awaits completion of the services being performed on Barge LD 707. In addition, the Contracting Officer Representative (COR) to be appointed for the resultant contract will have to travel to any location outside of the Vicksburg Harbor and will incur travel expenses to provide COR oversight. Big River Shipbuilders, Inc. has been identified as the only source local to Vicksburg, MS that can support this requirement. Any other sources will require expending considerable funds on towing operating, and staffing costs.
