About this file
This document is a Request for Sole Source Justification for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to replace the Rauland Responder IV Nurse Call System on the 5th Floor of Building 330 at the Dayton Veterans Affairs Medical Center (DVAMC). The VA seeks to upgrade to the Rauland Responder V Nurse Call System through SoundCom Systems, the authorized distributor, due to the current system being beyond repair and lacking available parts. The justification cites patient safety concerns, as the existing system prevents patients from communicating with nurses during emergencies, and aims to ensure consistency with other areas of the building that already have the updated system integrated with the Vocera System.
The sole source acquisition is being processed under statutory authority for "Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements" and "Unusual and Compelling Urgency". The estimated price is redacted, and the procurement is limited to a partial replacement of the system. The document includes certifications from the Chief of Projects and approvals from the Contracting Officer and Director of Contracting, with a planned effective date of 04/15/24. The acquisition is specific to the Dayton VAMC, located in Dayton, Ohio, and is part of VA VISN 10 Network Contracting Office.
