About this file
This is a Brand Name Justification document from the Department of Veterans Affairs Network Contracting Office 16 in Houston, TX for the procurement of MRidium Infusion System and accessories under Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP) for purchases between the micro-purchase threshold and Simplified Acquisition Threshold ($250K).
The justification is for the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center's Clinical Practice Office requirement for the MRidium MRI infusion system, which is identified as the only non-magnetic MRI-compatible IV infusion pump on the market. The system features a Sidecar Channel for delivering multiple IV fluids, DERS custom drug library for enhanced safety, and a Wireless Remote for operation from the MRI control room. The procurement will be a Firm-Fixed Price contract. Market research was conducted across multiple government databases and sources, including a search of 668 SD/VOSBs under NAICS 339112, with two vendors found capable. A previous mandatory contract (VA FSS 36F79719D0102 with Glomax) was noted as expiring 1/31/25, requiring this procurement to proceed as an open market purchase under FAR 13.

2. Brief Description of Supplies/ Services required and the intended use/Estimated Amount: The
Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center, Clinical Practice Office, has a need for MRidium Infusion System and accessories. The MRidium MRI infusion system is the only non-magnetic MRI compatible IV infusion pump on the market. Additionally, this system has the ability to keep up with the demanding clinical needs of MRI veteran patients by allowing continuous delivery of fluids and medication throughout the MRI care cycle. The non-magnetic design allows this system to operate safely in ultra-high magnetic fields without the need for workarounds typically required with traditional infusion pumps. This requirement will be offered as a Firm-Fixed Price contract, with an estimated total amount of
3. Unique characteristics that limit availability to only one source, with the reason no other supplies or services can be used: The MRidium MRI infusion system is the only non-magnetic MRI compatible IV infusion pump on the market. The non-magnetic MRidium pump has the ability to infuse medications in the MRI setting and maintains the same standard of care experienced in the ICU. The Sidecar Channel offers a unique and effective way to deliver multiple IV fluids safely and accurately next to the MRI system. The DERS custom drug library enhances infusion safety and provides potential cost savings which allows compliance with ISMP and The Joint Commission. The Wireless Remote eliminates delays caused by stopping the MRI scan to titrate or bolus by providing clinicians full operation from the MRI control room. This new non-magnetic design compare to other infusion pumps on the market provides a more advance and cost effective service to the VA Veterans which meets the MEDVAMC needs.
