About this file

This document is a Brand Name Justification for a sole-source procurement by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Portland District. The acquisition involves two mission-critical proprietary replacement Salt Water Service Pumps for the Dredge Essayons General Service Salt Water system, manufactured by RS Corcoran. The pumps are essential for cooling critical ship systems and must physically match the existing installed pumps with identical flow and pressure characteristics.

The procurement will be conducted under FAR Part 13 simplified acquisition procedures, with a small business set-aside. Market research revealed 7 small businesses previously quoted these pumps, and the requirement will be advertised on SAM.gov. The justification emphasizes the critical nature of these pumps for vessel safety, noting that alternative solutions would negatively impact the dredging mission. The total estimated value is redacted, but the procurement is less than $750,000, with a firm-fixed price and planned delivery to the US Moorings in Portland, Oregon.
