About this file
This document is a Single Source Justification (Simplified Acquisition) for the replacement of a BAK-15 aircraft arresting net. The contract is for Curtis-Wright Flow Control Service LLC to redesign an obsolete 158ft wide BAK-15 net (NSN 1710-01-059-8075), which is specifically needed for HAFB runways supporting T-38 aircraft. The current FEDLOG substitute is 210ft wide, which is too large for the intended runway. The estimated contract cost is $50,977.00, with the procurement being handled by 49 CONS/PKA contracting activity. The justification notes that market research was unable to identify any other companies capable of manufacturing this specific product, and the contracting officer has determined that only a single source is reasonably available under FAR 13.106-1(b)(1).
