Section 2: Statement of Work, Project Location, Period of Performance, Work Restrictions, & Existing Conditions

1. Statement of Work The Work consists of, but is not limited to, installation of new drilled well including screen, pump, drop pipe, and controls. Complete required pump testing, disinfection, water quality testing and associated required documentation. Connect new well to existing buried water and power lines.

Abandon existing well by hand; located in adjacent forested area without vehicle access. Contractor is responsible for obtaining well drilling permit, submitting well abandonment documentation as required by the State of Wisconsin, and field verifying existing conditions.

No Option Items will be awarded with the base contract. Appendix A details an option that may (or may not) be exercised to replace an additional well at Laurel Lake Campground.

2. Project Location North end of Bass Lake Recreation Area as shown below; see attached Project Location Map for directions. See attached Drawing for full site work information.

3. Period of Performance Work at Bass Lake shall commence as soon as possible after award and continue until complete.

4. Work Restrictions Work may be performed Monday‐Friday from 8am‐5pm. No work on weekends or Government

Holidays unless approved in advance by the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) in writing.

There are no restrooms available, nor access to drinking water until this contract work is complete.

5. Existing Conditions Bass Lake Recreation Area is the most popular day use site on forest and sees hundreds of visitors per day during summer months. The existing well is nearly 60 years old, the casing is highly corroded, and the well is currently accessible only on foot. When the submersible pump went out late in the 2020 season, restroom facilities were inoperable and portable toilets were used for the remainder of the season. Rather than attempt to repair an aging, corroded, inaccessible well, a new well is needed by season opening.

System Summary from O&M Manual Water Supply Wells: There is one 104‐foot‐deep drinking water well, located approximately 50 feet east of the parking area. The well was installed in 1964 and is seven inches in diameter. It is cased to a depth of 96 feet and screened from 96 feet to 104 feet. The well contains a submersible pump of unknown size. Well log included in attachments.

Treatment and Distribution: Water is pumped approximately 120 linear feet (pipe diameter and material unknown) to the comfort station, located to the northwest of the parking area. In the comfort station, a Lakos low flow centrifugal action (cyclone) separator removes any sand remaining in the water. The system is pressurized by a Well X‐Trol 302 hydropneumatic tank. The drinking water flow is measured by a 2‐inch

Badger Recordall disc meter.

Service Connections:

Water is provided at the comfort station, which includes toilets, sinks, a water fountain and a utility sink.
