11. PART 3 - EXECUTION

INSTALLATION

DESCRIPTION OF OPERATION

A. To provide power to the controls requires that the three circuit breakers in pump house circuit breaker panel feeding the equipment be switched “ON”.

B. Set the level switch settings in the water storage tank as follows:

1. High level alarm: 23.75 feet above tank floor

2. Stop Pump: 23.5 feet above tank floor

3. Start Pump: 16 feet above tank floor

4. Low level alarm : 10 feet above tank floor

C. To set up the controls, selector switches SS1 should be in the “AUTO” position, should be in the “ON” position and the three circuit breakers on the panel , and should be closed.

The white “POWER ON” indicating light will turn on.

D. If the water level in the storage tank is at or below the low level alarm setting, the “LOW WATER LEVEL” indicating light will turn on and the EXTERNAL ALARM LIGHT and the EXTERNAL ALARM HORN and SONALERT will be turned on. After a short delay, Pump will be started and will supply water to the storage tank.

E. Once the tank has been partially filled above the LEVEL ALARM LOW level switch, the alarm lights will be extinguished, but the audible alarms will continue to sound until the HORN selector switch is turned to the “OFF” position.

Return the HORN selector switch to the “ON” position.

F. The pump will continue supplying water to the tank until the water reaches the level of STOP PUMP level setting, at which time the pumps will be turned off.

G. If the water level continues to rise and reaches the LEVEL HIGH ALARM setting , the “HIGH WATER LEVEL” indicating light will turn on and the EXTERNAL ALARM LIGHT and audible alarms will be turned on. If the water continues to rise because the pumps won’t stop, the pumps can be stopped by turning the “HAND-OFF-AUTO” selector switches to the “OFF” position. If that does not work, it may be necessary to open circuit breaker DS1 to reset the control circuit and then reclose it again. Return the HAND-OFF-AUTO selector switch to the AUTO position.

H. The audible alarm will continue to sound even though the control circuit has been de-energized, because of the dedicated battery, which has been provided to sound the alarm in the event of a power failure. To silence the audible alarms, turn the HORN selector switch to the “OFF” position and return it to the “ON” position once the cause of the alarm has been cleared.

I. During normal operation, pumps 1 will operate in accordance with the START PUMP, and STOP PUMP level settings.

J. The pump can be started manually at any time that the water level is below the LEVEL ALARM HIGH level switch by turning the “HAND-OFF-AUTO” selector switches to the “HAND” position. Return the HAND-OFF-AUTO selector switches to the “AUTO” position.

K. The pumps and motor are controlled and protected by “COYOTE” pump protectors.

1. Start Delay

a. There will be a short variable (4-10 second) delay to start the pump each time.

2. High and Low Voltage Protection

a. The pump protector will trip after two seconds of detecting a high or low voltage.

b. The pump protector will reset and restart after 60 seconds of detecting a resumption of normal voltage.

3. Overcurrent Protection

a. The pump protector will trip after 0.25 seconds of detecting an overcurrent condition, such as overload, sand locking, or rapid cycling.

b. After tripping due to an overcurrent condition, the pump protector will make two attempts to restart the pump after 60 seconds.

c. If the overcurrent condition persists, the pump protector will trip again and lock itself out if there are three trips within 15 minutes.

d. If the current has returned to normal, the unit will be allowed to run.

4. Underload Protection

a. The pump protector will trip after 1 second of detecting an underloaded condition such as the pump running dry, gas locking, air locking or a frozen discharge line.

b. The pump protector will reset and restart after an adjustable time delay of from 1 minute to 12 hours. This time is to be set at 15 minutes.

5. Fault Alarm

a. For any of the fault conditions listed above, the pump protector will provide a dry contact output that will turn on the PUMP FAULT indicating light and the EXTERNAL ALARM LIGHT and sound the audible alarms.

b. The pump protector can be reset to allow the pump to run once the fault has been cleared by pushing the “RESET” button on the COYOTE Pump Protector. This will turn off the alarm lights, but the audible alarms will continue to sound until the HORN selector switch is turned to the “OFF” position. Return the HORN switch to the “ON” position.

L. An “ALARM TEST” pushbutton has been provided to test the operation of the SONALERT, the EXTERNAL ALARM HORN, and battery. Pushing the ALARM TEST pushbutton will de-energize the source of power to this portion of the circuit. The audible alarms will sound because they will be connected to a 24-volt DC battery. The audible alarms will sound as long as the button is pushed and will stop when the button is released. If the audible alarms do not stop when the button is released, it will be necessary to turn the HORN selector switch to the “OFF” position, and then return it to the “ON” position again.

12. PART 4 - MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT
