2. Brief Description of Supplies/ Services required and the intended use/Estimated Amount:
The purpose of this document is to provide a statement of work (SOW), for two MRI safe patient monitoring systems. This will be for VA Eastern Kansas (Topeka and Leavenworth campuses), for the term specified in this document. The monitor will provide monitoring for a patient receiving an MRI who has a pacemaker, receiving sedation (during an MRI) or critical patients (during an MRI).
3. Unique characteristics that limit availability to only one brand, with the reason no other supplies or services can be used:
Non Magnetic MRI compatible monitors and IV Pump is not only considered the safest practice for monitoring patient vital signs and delivering IV medications within the MRI environment.
The only non-magnetic IV pump solution available on the market today is called the MRidium 3860+ MRI IV
Infusion System manufactured by IRadimed Corporation based out of Winter Springs, FL. These non-magnetic pumps are MRI compatible up to a 3T environment and can safely enter the MRI scan room with the patient during their MRI. For additional patient safety, the system is equipped with a wireless safety remote monitor, which allows for visual monitoring and audible alerts, as well as providing full control of the MRidium IV Pumps from the outside the MRI in the control room area in the MRI suite. Furthermore, the pumps are equipped with a Drug Safety Library, which includes soft and hard limits, allowing the clinical staff to extend the same patient bedside practice and safe guards that are required throughout the rest of the hospital, thus preserving the continuity of care for any patient going to MRI.
In addition, the only non-magnetic patient monitor solution available on the market today is called the IRadimed
