About this file
This document is a Justification and Approval for Acquisitions under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures. It describes a new five-year sole-source contract between the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the San Juan County, Utah, Weed Department to perform noxious weed inventory and treatment on approximately 150+ acres of BLM-managed public lands in San Juan County. The total estimated contract value is $65,000. The BLM is authorized by Congress under several statutes, including the Carson-Foley Act and the Federal Noxious Weed Act, to enter into sole-source contracts with state and local government entities for weed control activities. The justification states that working with the county allows for better coordination of weed treatments across multiple jurisdictions, and the county has the required local knowledge, technical skills, and licenses. No competition is planned as the sole-source contracting is specifically authorized by Congress.
