Min. 1/2 of the road width.

NOTE:

Full Recontour sections: These areas may vary from moderately dry to very wet due to the amount and frequency of soil and surface water encountered along the roadway. These sections may contain springs, seeps and small draws these sections shall be constructed to allow water to drain.

METHOD 1 NOTES:

Pull back embankment material as shown on the drawings, or marked on the ground.

Excavate to dimensions shown on the drawings, marked on the ground, or to the natural ground contour, whichever is steeper.

Remove vegetation from fill slope, back slope, and drainage ditch prior to excavation and placement of material.

Trees and stumps greater than 12 inches in diameter, or other trees marked on the ground, shall not be disturbed.

Transitions in and out of pullback section shall be shaped no steeper the adjoining embankment slopes.

Place excavated material against existing back slope at maximum slope of 1:1.5 (rise to run). Shape material to drain.

AutoCAD SHX Text Notes: : 1. Excavate and remove from floodplain all fill material down to the original channel. Place and shape excavated material to approximate natural contours in accordance with the full recontour detail. Full recontour the adjacent roadway that is within the stream channel restoration area by pulling up the roadway fill, place and shape the excavated material on the remaining roadway, contouring it to the adjacent original ground slopes. Haul any excess material encountered to a designated disposal site. Haul is incidental to the work. 2. Distances for stream channel restoration may be adjusted to either side of channel to accommodate overlapping sections where streams are close together. 3. Scatter available woody debris on finished slopes. Place larger wood and rock within the floodplain. 4. Place gradient control structures at 15 foot maximum intervals as shown on the Gradient Control Stucture Detail or as approved by the Contracting Officer. 5. Treat removed culverts in accordance with Section 20305a. 6. To the extent possible remove all fill from around culvert prior to removing the culvert to reduce sediment in stream.

AutoCAD SHX Text Notes: 1.) Log shall be minimum 16" small end diameter unless otherwise approved by the Contracting Officer. 2.) Rock may be substituted and used in the same manner as wood. Use Class III or larger riprap per Section 251 or rock size approved by the Contracting Officer. Conserve rock from adjacent excavation. 3.) Install structure perpendicular to stream flow and on a level plane. 4.) Key structure (log or rock) in at a minimum of 4" below original stream grade and ensure that the structure is less than 6" above median stream flow level. Extend structure a minimum of 6' into each stream bank. 5.) Ditch relief culverts only require gradient control structures when they are in a natural channel. 6.) Construct gradient control structures within the area of the removed embankment. Construct the first structure within 3 feet of the inlet of the removed culvert. Place structures at a maximum spacing of 15 feet apart covering the length of the removed embankment.
