2. Description of Purchase:
The Governor’s Mental Health Diversion Council has endorsed a statewide rollout of a two-day law enforcement training that will encompass five regions across the state. The Managing Mental Health Crisis training was started in Washtenaw County, Michigan by The Cardinal Group II, LLC. Managing Mental Health Crisis is designed to provide participants with a better understanding of mental illness as it relates to law enforcement professionals. Law enforcement personnel are often the first responders to a person in crisis but are typically inadequately trained in identifying, responding and effectively managing the situation. Managing Mental Health Crisis is a culmination of knowledge and skills developed by law enforcement and mental health professionals with the intention of promoting effective and high-quality responses to mental health related incidents. It is currently the only law enforcement training that has the capability to expand statewide. The Cardinal Group II, LLC. will facilitate and lead training for five designated regions across the state and will produce two to three teams of “super trainers” who will provide the Managing Mental Health Crisis training statewide. The Cardinal Group II, LLC. will also manage all day-to-day operations connected with the statewide trainings including coordinating train the trainer sessions, maintaining training material, interviewing/hiring training personnel, setting up regional “super trainings,” tracking the number of individuals trained, and overseeing all certifications that will accompany this statewide training effort. The Cardinal Group II, LLC. will also be responsible to report to the Mental Health Diversion Council, which will oversee all activities, advise on any updates to the curriculum, guide their actions, and offer support to ensure a successful outcome from the trainings.
