Joseph K. Lumsden Bahweting Anishnabe School sits on the ancestral lands of the Anishinaabeg. Between 1795 and 1864, Michigan tribal lands were reduced from 57,000 to 32 square miles, ceded through treaties with the US government. JKL School acknowledges this history and honors the enduring and borderless presence and sovereignty of the Anishinaabeg, who continue to shape and enrich this land.
