Date of Inspection: 7/24/2025

Above photo shows a raised suspect gas island at the front of S1 as identified by the former pacel owner during GDOT’s acquisition. The former parcel owner indicated that he obtained the parcel in circa 1985 and was responsible for capping the potential UST’s port which had been exposed since the store ceased operating in the 1960s. A search of GA EPD’s UST Management Program data base records did not return any information that the parcel contains underground storage tanks (USTs). Ground penetrating radar (GPR) confirmed the presence of a single UST with an estimated size of ≤500 gallons.

The presence of the abandoned UST at the front of the store suggests that its vicinity be searched during UST removal for any residual supply/vent piping and such be traced and removed.

Areas across the front of the parcel were also scanned with the GPR to determine if other USTs had been covered over after the store ceased operating in the 1960s. No tanks or supply/vent piping were identified by the GPR scan of the areas.

SITE INSPECTION - GROUND PENETRATING RADAR

Photo shows GPR unit on-site being employed to document location of one (1) discovered UST.

UST is suspected to be ≤500 gallon steel tank.

Photo shows a GPR screen with the reflection of a suspect UST within the above red dashed box. The balance of prior area surrounding the suspect location gave no suspect reflection that would indicate the presence of a second tank.
