About this file

This document is an Addendum to Invitation to Bid (ITB) #2223-011 for Biomedical Waste Disposal Services issued by the Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) in the state of Florida. The ITB seeks a vendor to provide biomedical waste disposal services to the Tacachale location in Gainesville, Florida. The addendum provides clarification on several aspects of the ITB, including that APD will purchase buildings to house the waste instead of requiring the vendor to provide mobile mini's, that there have been no requests for emergency services in the past year, and that all waste will be incinerated with no separation required between autoclave and incineration waste. The addendum also provides details on the anticipated amount of waste per pickup, with an average of 30-45 96-gallon cans per pickup, and an average weight of 5,000 pounds per pickup. The current vendor, Trilogy Medwaste, is being paid $25.155 per container under the existing contract.

The addendum also indicates that APD requires at least 104 96-gallon containers onsite at all times, and that APD supplies the red bags used for the biomedical waste. Vendors are advised that any protest to the ITB must be filed within the timeframe prescribed in Florida Statutes.

REFERENCE QUESTION ANSWER

1 • Are the mobile mini’s on site going to be required as part of this bid? Presently we provide them for the site at an additional cost to the collection of the medical waste. If so, can a line item be added for that as a monthly fee?

No, APD will purchase buildings to house the waste.

Incinerated waste to be separated from autoclave waste o Could you clarify if waste will be separated between autoclave and incineration and if there will be dedicated bins of each waste type?
