Text version

1. Are the conveyors in the truck powered or un-powered?

A: powered

2. What type of pallets are being handled; wood, plastic?

A: wood

3. Which way do the bottom boards of the pallets run; perpendicular or parallel to the direction of travel?

A: perpendicular

4. Does the height of the transport trucks vary? If so, how much and what is the approximate height to the top of the rollers of the new conveyors?

A: top rollers of new conveyors is approximately 22 inches. Transporter trucks have adjustable height. Final height will be based on field measurement on site after award.

5. Is the 2" incremental adjustment of the conveyor height a one time thing or will the height of the conveyors be adjusted regularly?

A: height of conveyors are not adjusted regularly.

6. If the conveyors are regularly adjusted in height, how much time is allowed to make the adjustment?

A: see #5.

7. Are the transport conveyors to be five (5) accumulation zones x 54"/zone in length?

A: Yes

8. How far do the transport conveyors traverse?

A: approximately 39 feet on tracks. Final distance will be determined based on field measurement on site after award.

9. Is the traverse motion powered or hand push?

A: powered

10. Do the bearing requirements in 4.6 apply to the roller bearings or only to main drive and pulley bearings?

A: roller bearings

11. Does the spec for shields on bearings indicate a requirement beyond normal bearing seals, such as shot guards?

A: no

12. Since the documents indicate that each conveyor has a "in" and an "out" start pushbutton, what is the function of the "Travel In" and the "Travel Out" pushbuttons?

A: the rollers on the conveyors are two-directional ("in" and "out"). Additionally, the entire conveyor frame traverse "In" and "Out" on tracks installed flush with the floor.

13. Can we get a AutoCAD version of the drawings? The drawings provided are too small to be very useful.

A: AutoCAD versions are not available at this time but will be available upon award.

14. Do you have details or drawings of the GFE Battery Chargers which the racks are to hold?

A: standard forklift battery chargers, no details or drawings available at this time.

15. What is the requirements for badging of those who will be working onsite (i.e. background checks, drug testing, et.)?

A: All persons coming to work on site are required to provide full name, date of birth, state of birth, and social security numbers and will undergo background checks. They will not be subjected to drug testing but vehicles are randomly searched coming into and out of the depot.

Alcohol, firearms, drugs, image capturing devices are prohibited.

Under 4.11 Controls, Add the following narrative:

Contractor shall install and implement custom electrical interlock controls for use with dual overhead door mechanisms, as well as, a return-to-neutral control circuit that allows the traversing conveyor to ‘nest’ in an intermediate station between its loading and unloading points.

This ‘nesting’ feature requires a travel capability while both overhead doors are closed.

Sequence of Operations The traversing conveyors will accumulate pallets in both directions. The traversing conveyor drive system will have three stopping positions, one at each end of the track and one in the middle. From the warehouse (end) position, the conveyors will only travel to the middle position unless both overhead dock doors are open. In that case, the conveyor can traverse all the way to the truck dock (opposite end) position. From the truck dock position, using the truck dock control panel, the conveyor will only travel in reverse as far as the middle position. This is to prevent any injury to personnel or damage to the equipment and facility.
