About this file

This document is an Affidavit of Compliance for the Iran Economic Sanctions Act, specifically for Farmington Public Schools under Michigan Public Act No. 517 of 2012. The affidavit requires potential contractors to certify that they are not an "Iran linked business" as defined by the Act, which involves investment activities of $20,000,000 or more in Iran's energy sector, such as constructing or maintaining oil or liquefied natural gas pipelines. Contractors must affirm they are not and will not become an Iran linked business if awarded a contract through the school district's Request for Proposals (RFP).

The document outlines significant penalties for false certification, including a civil penalty of up to $250,000 or twice the contract amount, investigation costs, and attorney fees. Additionally, any entity submitting a false certification will be ineligible to bid on RFPs for three years from the date of determination. The affidavit provides a template for contractors to complete, including spaces for the contractor's name, authorized representative, date, and notarization, ensuring compliance with the state's economic sanctions legislation.
